The Engineering Environment SR1213B
This course is designed to train students on the issues and obstacles
confronting engineering management which affect the decisions they
make. They will do this by gaining specific knowledge of the
competitive world forces (trends in business) that have a direct impact
on our customer's Engineering Environment.
STUDENT PROFILE:
CSO sales representatives, sales management, and PSO consultants who
actively sell or support sales of applications or workstations into the
Engineering Environment.
PREREQUISITES:
None
STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
o Recognize business goals, key issues (Critical Success Factors),
significant problems (obstacles) and pressures on Engineering
management and the implications of those for Engineering
Environment.
o Identify resources, methods, and tools for improving engineering
effectiveness. (Break- even time, Concurrent engineering, Total
quality, Design for Manufacturability, etc.)
o List major trends effecting Engineering business goals and
strategies for MCAD, ECAD, CASE and Scientific Computing.
o Recognize development as one process within a company, its
relationship to other processes, its role in the value chain,
possibilities for integration and the impact on competitiveness.
